The mission of the People + Places Project is to provide an inclusive space for communities to share stories about who they are and places they live. This project is designed for youth and families to start a dialogue on identity, race, family origin an migration. The New Children’s Museum partnered with Bridge to offer free workshops across San Diego from Vista to San Ysidro to provide this workshop to underrepresented people and communities.
Gentrification Has a Name is a social engagement project that aims to give a voice to those affected by change in their neighborhood. A tribute to the people, places and things that are important to us and the memories we refuse to forget. The goal is to open a community dialogue on race, displacement, socio-economic divide and learn about gentrification as an individual experience. The project utilizes the phone as a storytelling tool to make dialogue accessible, inclusive and encourage community participation.
Returning Filipino is a social engagement project designed to serve transnational Filpino-American families. Participants of the project will use the balikbayan box, an international shipping service specific to Philippines, to provide goods to their overseas families and share stories about their gift-giving experiences.
